Google has introduced the Googlepedia or Knol as an alternative to Wikipedia. But multiple authors are allowed to write on the same topic and readers’ ratings would decide the popularity of each article.

But wikipedia is a charitable organization which is free of advertising. But Googlepedia allows its authors to earn revenues from Google Adsense ads. In this way the authors can monetize their contents.
